Bearing the Burdens of Life

Proverbs 18:14
The spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness, But who can bear a broken spirit?

Let's be real for a moment... life isn't easy at times. In fact, life can be downright unbearable sometimes. As we live in this generation where things always seem to be an uphill battle, we can become weary and lose heart. We want to give up when the struggle becomes too hard to bear. It's hard to think about, lest say, but it's a reality of life.

But we have something that most people of the world do not have. That is a faith and a certain hope in God. Before being saved by Christ, many of us were happy go lucky sorts of people. Not a care in the world, living with a care-free lifestyle believing there is no eternal consequence for our life.

Then, comes along a man named Jesus, born miraculously by virgin birth, lived 33 years, walked from town to town performing miracles, signs and wonders, healing the sick, blind, deaf and dumb, claiming to be God in flesh. He gathered a group of crazies common-folk called disciples who followed Him everywhere and witnessed His life, death and resurrection. Then. went to the four corners of the earth to preach the Good News and changed the world.

One of Jesus great words of encouragement came to us through His teachings of His disciples when they thought it was too hard to continue...

John 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Jesus never said we would escape burdens and troubled times. He did say we would be able to go through them, because of Him!

Jesus also said that worrying about our plight and troubles of life were fruitless and added nothing to our lives...

Matthew 6:34 "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."

So, as we go through the day before us, and the days ahead as we wait for the Lord's return, let us be reminded that troubles and burdens are certain to come to each one of us. The attitude we take towards them will determine how we will handle them.

Let's fight for the faith and keep our attention and focus on Christ, who will always see us and guide us to the perfect end.

Matthew 11:30 "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
