Matthew 24:46-47
Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods.
If Jesus came back right at this moment, what would He find you to be doing? Well, if you know anything about the Lord, and have a personal relationship with Him, and understand all that He has commanded you to do as a disciple, I would hope that He would find you busy about doing His work.
Jesus has entrusted each and every believer to be His personal representative here on earth. We are to be working diligently and faithfully for the Master. That is we are to be witnessing, and speaking and sharing the gospel.
2 Corinthians 5:20 "Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God."
If we never put our hands to the plow, or all we do is till the soil, but put no seed into the furrow, it will never grow into a harvest. We cannot be part time farmers that hoe a row and then go sit and wait, expecting a bumper crop. No farmer in his right mind would ever do that and expect to reap a plentiful harvest.
Proverbs 20:4 The lazy man will not plow because of winter; He will beg during harvest and have nothing
It takes diligent faith and hard work to be a disciple of Christ. It costs you and I something to follow and serve Him (Luke 9:23). He has already given you and I the free gift of salvation by dying for our sins. He toiled and tilled the soil of our hearts, and prepared us to receive His bounty of a growing spirit within us, so that we might in turn, be fellow planters and good farmers of the harvest yet to come.
So, what are you dong right now that would cause Jesus to say, "Well done thou good and faith servant?" Consider the alternative... what's He going to say if He finds you to be a slacker or sluggard?
Your faithful servant in Christ,
Pastor Tom Neal
