Romans 10:5-13
5 For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.” 6 But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) 7 or, “ ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Almost every person, from generation to generation, even from the time of creation, have struggled with the truth of God and who He is. The knowledge of God is something that God will not allow us to excuse or claim ignorance of His existence. (Romans 1:18-20)
But what is even more compelling is His love for mankind. What other god of this world would go through the lengths to win back the hearts of man by executing His only Son for the salvation of everyone else?
Buddha, Allah, Moloch, Dagon and Ba'al, among others created by rebellious man, cannot save one person from eternal hellfire and damnation. Who else then would go through what Jesus went through just to save people from eternal death?
The gift of salvation is a reserved privilege. As the old saying goes, "We are saved, being saved, and will be saved." Meaning, our salvation is secure if we have placed our faith and trust in Jesus Christ.
First, we are saved (justified and sanctified or set apart) from the wrath, that is the fiery anger and judgment of God that our sins deserve. He spares us who call upon His name to save us from that eternal calamity.
As we walk the path of righteousness, and stay on that chosen path God has put before us, we will be working out our salvation (Philippians 2:12). Then, after this life has passed, and as our bodies lie in the grave, we will be in the presence of the Almighty and eternally saved.
Paul tells us that God makes the provision and opportunity for all to be saved. But it is up to each individual to come to that crossroad and choose which gate they will pass through. If the person believes with their heart and confesses with their mouth that Jesus is Lord, and that He died for the forgiveness of sins, and resurrected from death unto life, and all who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
My bible says God WILL save them. The word WILL is an imperative word - as in a guarantee. And God will never write a check He cannot cash.
God will never turn anyone away from His salvation to those who seek it. The problem most people have who reject this gift is that they refuse to see themselves as sinners, lost and dying an eternal death and separation from the Father. It is tragic and sad to see them living a carefree life that is heading straight for Hell.
It saddens me further in knowing I have family members who may be choosing the wide gate that leads to destruction. I pray they read the words of God and repent and place their faith in Jesus to save them.
We need to turn away and fix our eyes on the Lord Jesus. For He is coming back soon to bring a final judgment to this fallen world. The question is and remains, "Are you ready?"
Blessings from Christ our Lord,
Pastor Tom
