Evil Is As Evil Does

Ephesians 5:15-16
See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

I am sure that like many of us, were tuned into the Super Bowl yesterday. As a fan of the sport I too fixed my gaze on the championship game, even though my favorite team was not playing. But some of us, including me, may have missed a news breaking story of another shooting.

Just hours before the Super Bowl started, a breaking news story came out of Houston, Texas at the site of Lakewood Church, where a deadly shooting occurred on that campus. If you are not aware, this is the church where Joel Osteen is the pastor. Whatever you might think or feel about him or Lakewood Church, is moot at this point, when a tragic event like this occurs.

It's another horrific story of how evil this world is and how more evil it is becoming. It is surely evident that we are hurling towards the end times and the Day of Judgment. But the bible says before that happens, evil will continue to grow worse and with greater frequency.

The ruler of this age is hard at work deploying his plan of destroying humanity's faith and love in God. He will use anyone willing to carry out the dirty deeds, like shooting innocent victims in a house of worship.

This also proves that no one - absolutely no one - is safe. Churches were once regarded as sanctuaries and safe havens. 40 or 50 years ago, no one would ever think of entering a place of worship to do harm, perhaps but a few exceptions. But as the days pass, evil rears up its ugly head in places we consider to be safe. No more!

As long as Satan is still at work, he will do all that he can to bring this world to its knees in submission to him. Sounds pretty bleak and gloomy doesn't it? Sounds like there isn't much hope for us doesn't it?

Well, let me reassure you and comfort you with the words of Jesus...

Luke 12:4-5 “And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!"

Evil isn't long for this world. God's plan is in full effect and one day He will rid the earth of all evil and sin. He started with sending His only Son, who gave His life as a ransom for all who will believe on Him, to be delivered from condemnation and eternal damnation though the blood of His cross.

Do not waste another minute thinking that nothing bad can happen to you. Just be sure that when evil happens to visit your doorstep, that you are well protected by the grace and mercy of God in Christ Jesus! Get saved!

Romans 10:9 "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
