Psalm 85:2
You have forgiven the iniquity of Your people; You have covered all their sin. Selah

A process of protecting steel from rust and decay is by galvanizing. It is a covering of zinc that strengthens the steel as well as provides a coat of protection. The dictionary defines the word galvanized as a verb to 1. shock or excite (someone), typically into taking action, and 2. coat (iron or steel) with a protective layer of zinc, like an old galvanized bucket.
Putting your faith in Jesus is like being galvanized. He comes into your heart and from the inside out, cleanses you and creates a new person. The sins of your past, present and future are now forgiven once and for all by the precious blood of the Lamb. He covers you in His blood like you would cover a steel nail or bucket in zinc to protect and preserve your heart from the corruption of this world.
The first definition is also like coming into faith in Christ. We are actually shocked like a doctor would use the electric shock paddles to revive a patient whose heart stops beating. We are shocked or excited to come to know the truth of the gospel and how life saving the good news really is. We respond to this by accepting the gift of grace and allowing God to cover us in His protection of love and mercy.
Have you been galvanized and coated by the blood of Jesus? Today is the day for your salvation. Jesus died for you to cover your sins so you can live forever with Him in eternal glory. The good news of Jesus is exciting and can shock you into a new faith that will last forever.
Your servant in Christ, Tom
