Galatians 5:1-3 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. 2 Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. 3 And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law.
Next week this nation will celebrate and other Fourth of July commemorating the birth of a free nation from tyranny. Since that time in 1776, we have been guaranteed the rights of freedom and liberty, as long as we can hold onto it.
Liberty. This word has somehow lost its true definition over the years. It's a word that many of take for granted, and never quite honestly realize how much of a price has been paid for it, so we can enjoy it.
Since the foundation of our country, freedom and liberty has been the force of building this nation. But even more than that, since the creation of time and this planet we live on, liberty has been afforded to us by the Almighty God in heaven.
But as with any freedoms and liberties we enjoy now, these all come at a cost. Our nation's freedoms come at a cost of a soldier's life in defense of our constitutional rights as citizens. Our freedoms and liberties born in us from the Creator, are secured by the life, death, and resurrection of God's Son, Jesus.
This liberty has never lost its meaning, or has diminished in its value. Christ's blood paid for all our sins, that deserve our eternal judgment and death. Political movements and party line power grabbing efforts may attempt to thwart or diminish our personal and national liberties with laws, fiats, executive orders, edicts and mandates. But God's plan of redemption and salvation, which grants us, who believe, is a precious liberty that no one can take away or destroy.
This liberty from God is one we can enjoy here and now, and forevermore! So, therefore, standfast in it. For it is the hope that lives strong in us as citizens of heaven!
