Deuteronomy 13:4
You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him.
Here we are, days after the mid-term elections, and I wonder where things are going, as some states, the votes are still being counted... Are things going to get better, even with a slight chance of a change in control of leadership? Time will tell I suppose. I am hopeful they will, but I would not be surprised if nothing changes either.
After all, what this country has been through the past few years, the question still remains, will things get better? And if so, how long will it take to get our nation back on track and headed in the right direction? I am not sure, but I do know for certain, that unless we as a nation don't turn back to God, we stand a great risk of facing His judgment and imploding upon ourselves.
What I also know (by the way, what I don't know could fill a volume of books!) is that God the Father hasn't abdicated the Throne. God the Son hasn't given up His authority, and God the Holy Spirit hasn't lost any of His power. For God is the only constant calm in a chaotic world that we can hold fast to and truly trust.
Politicians come and go. People come and go. Nations rise and fall. Times and seasons change. It's inevitable. It is something God put in motion from the beginning. Ever since the fall of man in the Garden, this world has been on trajectory towards a climatic time of change that the world has never known before. The Flood to the fall of the Tower of Babel, and the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD, these things pale in comparison to what is coming to the world soon.
This nation, in particular, has devalued God and devalued anything resembling Him. We have shut God out of our schools, our workplace, the marketplace, our government, and sadly even some of our churches. Some churches who profess to believe in Yahweh, deny the Trinity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, or have reduced the Son as a mere prophet or great teacher. The Holy Spirit is referred to as some kind of spiritual force field or energy power.
How can this nation ever recover from this kind of blasphemy? How could we ever expect God to forgive and have mercy and grace on an ungrateful, unbelieving generation? I could care less who you voted for in the past elections. What God has already endorsed and faithfully put into action, by no means will it be altered by an election, politics or social justice. Unless there is a mass awakening by the preaching of the Gospel, this nation will continue to devalue God, and we will have to suffer the consequences.
But it's not all bad news... believe it or not, there is good news to be had!
The assurance we ought to have is not be laid in the hands of an elected official, but in the hands of our Creator. He controls our destiny. It is time we started to value God more than the world and stand up for Jesus, and tell our loved ones, neighbors and friends, and even our enemies about how He died for the forgiveness of our sins and gives eternal life to those who believe and receive Him as Lord and Savior.
Jesus makes it fairly easy to know Him. He does not require you to do anything, but to believe. No work you need to do, no great offerings of sacrifices, no amount of money or charitable deeds can match or outdo what Christ has already done in the finished and saving work He did on the cross. Just come to Him with a humble, penitent, and contrite heart. That is all you need to come to faith in Jesus and receive His grace and salvation.
Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."
Romans 10:8-13 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
If you believe this, you can be saved and born again today! If you already believe, then tell others about Him and what He has done for you!
