Matthew 15:8
These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me.
The political scene in this nation is at full swing in both rhetoric and self-glory. Presidential candidates will take center stage and boast of their past accomplishments and make promises for the future.
They may even give God a little of the credit. But not too much! as to not offend the unbeliever voters. While they go out on the campaign trail, this nation is suffering. This world is suffering too.
Chaos is running rampant in our economy, where inflation is making poor people poorer. Our enemies are breathing about threats to destroy us through Israel, while they laugh and mock us along the way. Where social justice is all about being woke and sensitive to the evil things, they call good, rising up in the public square, and in our government.
In it all, the church remains silent as if to turn a blind eye to all that is going on. On a typical Sunday morning, people gather to sing praises and hear messages of how good God is. Yet, at times, it only appears as nothing but lip service.
The good news of the Gospel grows evermore silent, while the rest of the world enjoys the hell-bent ways that will lead many down the road and through the wide gate that leads to destruction.
We will always get warnings of bad weather, or falling stock market reports that causes us to be alarmed. Why not share God's warning of His Son, Jesus, returning to the earth with His impending wrath and judgement? Why not share the good news of forgiveness of your sins and salvation, that Jesus died for?
We will not live long in this world with the idea that 'Me, Myself and I' will be okay alone. It's time to let your 'Yes' be 'Yes' and your 'No' be 'No'! It's time to honor God and give Him the glory, not just with our lips, but with our whole heart.
After all, He gave His whole heart, through the death and resurrection of His Son, for you!
In Christ's love,
Tom
