Romans 3:19-20
Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
As we watch the evening news and witness the events taking place around the globe, we may watch and witness all that it happening with a great amount of insensitivity, and perhaps some level of fear, but not caring much about what's going on these days.
Meaning, we ignore that "elephant in the room."
If we are not vigilant, we fall for the the lie that it's not that bad. We put blame on Israel for being an aggressor. We blame our political system to be corrupt and untrustworthy. We blame the gun violence and sweeping crime rate on the weapons of the crime. We cry out for justice and none comes!
But in doing so, and blaming the problems on other things, we neglect to see and identify the real problem and cause of all the problems in this world. We simply ignore the "elephant in the room" and carry on.
That elephant we ignore is nothing more than sin. Sin will be root cause of most, if not all the problems and utter chaos we see going on today. But it has been a problem ever since Adam and Eve sinned against God in the Garden.
The only one who is completely satisfied with the sin manifesting in this world, is Satan. He is having a grand time of implementing temptation and deceit, and causing delusion and confusion. Thus, resulting in the actions of the sinners giving into the temptation.
The elephant in the room has no regard for truth and righteousness. It stands right before our eyes and we pretend all is well in the world. We have desensitized sin so much that we cannot avoid blaming our sins on someone or something else.
2 Corinthians 4:3-4 "But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them."
If we continue to ignore the root of the problems that plague us, we will soon feel the wrath of God, who's justice is swift and fierce to those with unbelieving and unrepentant hearts.
And if we continue to be blinded, we know that God sees all that is going on. Job reminds us this:
Job 24:1-3 “Since times are not hidden from the Almighty, Why do those who know Him see not His days? 2 “Some remove landmarks; They seize flocks violently and feed on them; 3 They drive away the donkey of the fatherless; They take the widow’s ox as a pledge."
What's it going to take for the world to wake up and smell the coffee and see past that elephant in the room? For one thing, I know the government isn't the answer. The next movement or next election cycle aren't the answers either. No social injustice protest will change things. Only the Lord God Almighty can and will change things forever.
He has already made it possible for you and me, and the rest of this world to take hold of an eternal promise made from the very beginning to give us a sin offering, and forgive us all our sin. This of course, came to pass when Jesus was crucified, died and resurrected 3 days later - according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
How much longer will someone have to wait to be saved? There's no way of knowing when Christ will take His church home. Even if you decide to stick it out, and wait until hell is unleashed on this world, you will have a chance to be saved. But it is going cost you your life. So, why risk all that when you can relieve yourself of that worry now?
Only Jesus can save you. When He will do it is up to you. Don't let that elephant step on you before then.
Your servant in Christ,
Pastor Tom
