Daniel 12:4
“But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”
The side one title track from the rock band Rush's album "2112", tells of a story of a future time where intelligence of a federation has assumed control over its citizens. The intelligence portrayed in this song may have seemed far fetched when I first heard it back in 1976, but in reality, it is not a stretch at all as we see the advancement of technology and increasing knowledge in the world today. Look at artificial intelligence (AI) for instance.
If you think AI development is innocent and harmless, please think again...
New AI app lets users 'text with' Jesus and other biblical figures. “Launched in July, Text with Jesus is the latest creation from Cat Loaf software, an app-development company in Los Angeles. The app replicates an instant messaging platform, with biblical figures impersonated by the artificial intelligence program ChatGPT. Characters available on the app include the Holy Family, the apostles, the prophets, Ruth, Job and Abraham’s nephew, Lot." (Religion News)
Wow! Just when you think the world has gone bonkers, it just keeps getting crazier each day. AI is becoming the new demi-god at the worship altar of the intellectually ignorant. Without regards to ramifications and potential harm AI can create, it comes by no surprise that we have fallen for the lie that AI is good for the world. In fact, experts are saying once AI is full force, it is impossible to ever reverse the effects of it. In other words, "it will assume control" of our lives if it goes unchecked.
There are hundreds of apps and programs out there that are leveraging AI technology all to make life easier - if not more complacent and lazy - especially with spiritual matters.
God gave the world a stern warning about the end times, and what we can expect before the end comes. He told Daniel, as he was recording the visions and prophecies he received from God, to shut the words up and close the book until the end comes. God also tells Daniel that the world will go about business as usual and knowledge will increase.
As we fast-forward to the present day, we can say with a high degree of confidence, that knowledge has increased, and is increasing. But where is this all going and what is going to be the result or outcome?
You do not have to be an intellectual, theologian or scholar to see and know what God's warnings mean and how they will play out in the end. From the very beginning, God's plan has all along been to reconcile mankind back to Him.
By way of the Cross and Jesus's atoning death and His resurrection, we all have been afforded something greater than any AI can ever accomplish - that is forgiveness of sins and everlasting life.
Do not be fooled in thinking AI will be the cure all for all that is wrong in the world. It may be the very thing that bring the Lord Jesus back earth - who is the once for all "cure all."
Your servant in Christ,
Pastor Tom
